"In Between: Memoir Of An Integration Baby"

"WHAT DO MEN REALLY WANT? REALLY "

Patricia and Catherine Jullian's original thoughts among others: "How women can express their love to men. How men want love expressed to them."

Mark: : "What Men Want. Really. From A Man's Perspective it is just about sex and success"

Mark: "WOW! What a Freudian slip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Quelle Freudian slip! Mark's corrected Feudian slip and what we will probably all talk about:

"You know I meant to say "not" just about sex and money. But what I wrote is catchier even if I go ahead and contradict myself in the talk and discussion. (From Mark).

Et Voila! I promise that this evening will be fun and eye opening! Actually, I can't wait.! - P

About Mark Morrison-Reed:

In the 60s while marches, school desegregation and sit-ins spread across America, a skinny black kid from Chicago arrived in Paris and at first thought he had died and gone to heaven. It was not quite that good. Morrison-Reed talks about watching the Civil Rights Movement from afar and what has changed since then.

(Background: Before Paris. When in 1962 Mark Morrison-Reed, a 13-year-old black kid from South Side Chicago, moved to Switzerland with his family he said “It felt like we were integrating the whole country.” That is when he had to learn to live “in between.” President Obama, given his mixed heritage, playfully referred to himself as a mutt. He, too, had learned to live in between – cultures, races, ...)

Our Guest of Honor:

Connie Fredericks-Malone
Vocalist

In the states, Connie spent 20 years performing in musical theatre, day-time and prime-time television, commercials and cabaret/night club venues. Her first love is singing, and she possesses a powerful four octave range. A versatile performer, Connie sings gospel, jazz standards and r&b soul favorites. She especially loves the intimacy of the cabaret club performance setting. It was in the cabaret rooms of Manhattan where she honed her nightclub performance skills and settled on a repertoire of songs that has remained close to her heart. Connie feels this way about her material:

“A good song tells a story. As an actress I am attracted to the drama in a song. The arrangement and melody may draw my attention to a particular work, but it is the lyrics, the story, that compel me to sing it. ”

"I come from a family of artists that include two international recording artists - Taj Mahal and the late Carole Fredericks as well as painters, actors, and writers. I sing the music of my family, the songs that have been with us since childhood. I never tire of sharing Carole's amazing
story with audiences. What I love most about singing is how each song reminds me of a family member."

Currently, Connie and her husband, Jim, reside in the Finger Lakes region of New York State where she performs frequently.
