Claudia Hommel Paris-born singer-actor Claudia Hommel returns from Chicago to our salon to introduce her latest project, the Jazz Faure Project.And what is the recipe for this cabaret confection of French impressionism and American jazz?
Take the art songs Gabriel Faure created for his friends to sing at salons of the 1880s and 1890s, bring in a second singer to enrich the dialogue, add a jazz combo of piano, bass, drums and saxophone, clarinet or flute, introduce the 20th century rhythms of swing, bossa nova, jazz waltz and voila! a 21st century way to celebrate these wonderful songs.Claudia and the Jazz Fauré Ensemble are in the midst of recording the first volume of their project, so she'll present a short video from a recent performance at the Green Lake Festival of Music (Wisconsin) and CD excerpts from the forthcoming album. You may even want to leave the evening sporting a Jazz Fauré Renoir t-shirt or tote bag to show your support.

About Claudia:Claudia Hommel is a singer and actor specializing in French chansons and mélodies, in cabaret and concert, for schools, theatres, clubs, museums, and private events. At our salon, we may entice her to sing a few Parisian songs unaccompanied (or bring an acquaintance to play guitar or accordion for the occasion).Claudia also organizes CABARET INTOURLUDES and serves as guide for intimate groups from the States. Eight fans and friends are joining her this week and Claudia welcomes salon participants to join the itinerary around town.
