RENDEZ VOUS AVEC PATRICIA

This Sunday 30 July At 18h30 Our Guest of Honor:

Janet McDonald
Internationally Acclaimed Author

Paris: On Becoming a writer: "One day I was a lawyer drearily dividing my obscenely well-paid time between complex business deals and surreptitious Web-surfing.? The next day, or so it now seems, I had a tell-too-much memoir and was on the Rosie O'Donnell show telling her too much about my life in the projects. And on NPR telling Ira Glass too much about my life in Paris.. Since then, I've traded pinstripe suits for polka dot pajamas and delightedly divide my time between crafting characters and imagining plots."

One of seven children, Janet McDonald grew up in Brooklyn, New York.. holds a Bachelors degree in French Literature from Vassar College, a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University School of Journalism and a law degree from New York University School of Law.? She has practiced law in New York, Seattle and Paris, and is a member of MENSA, the international IQ society., McDonald moved to Paris where her career as an international corporate lawyer took her from Brooklyn to Bermuda and with stops all over Europe as well as to India.? She began writing fiction for young adults on a whim and has garnered widespread critical acclaim, winning in 2002 for Chill Wind the American Library Associations Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent Award.? Published by New York's prestigious Farrar, Straus & Giroux, her five books have been included on a number of best books lists by the American Library Association, the New York Public Library and the Chicago Public Library and have been translated into French.? Her memoir Project Girl is required reading in schools throughout the United States. Not surprisingly, Hollywood has come knocking. Janet McDonald's official website is
